Commercial warehouse and office defit in Kensington by Melbourne Defit Company, including wall demolition, carpet replacement, painting, signage removal and epoxy flooring
Melbourne Defit Company recently completed the defit and make-good of Heritage Insight’s two adjoining warehouse and office premises in Kensington.
The project involved restoring both properties ready for handover, with works completed across the warehouse and office areas. The existing office carpet was heavily worn and was removed and replaced, while the warehouse areas required demolition, preparation, painting and floor restoration.

- Removal of existing business signage
- Removal and replacement of worn office carpet
- Preparation and painting of internal walls
- Painting of selected floor areas
- Preparation and application of an epoxy coating to the warehouse floor
- Removal of redundant fixtures and materials
- General make-good works and final clean
One of the more challenging aspects of the project was the removal of the window frosting, which had previously been painted over and required considerable work to remove cleanly. The existing flooring also proved challenging, particularly in the back-of-house areas where tiles, screed, ramps and drainage points all needed to be removed.
Where possible, we always prefer to see usable materials and equipment given a second life rather than sent to waste. The cool room, refrigeration units and fridge panels were successfully removed for reuse at a new location.
The project transformed the two premises from well-used office and warehouse spaces into clean, refreshed areas ready for their next occupants.
