House of Cards Café – South Melbourne Café Defit

Melbourne Defit Company recently completed the defit and make-good of House of Cards Café in South Melbourne, located within an existing library building.

With the café surrounded by an existing public facility, the works required a careful and efficient approach to remove the commercial café fitout while making good the areas affected by the removal.

The entire defit was completed in just three days.

The project included:

• Removal of all café equipment and appliances
• Removal of counters, cabinetry and associated joinery
• Electrical disconnection of redundant café equipment and services
• Plumbing disconnection and capping
• Removal and dismantling of the existing grease trap
• Repair and make-good of walls following tile and fixture removal
• Repair of flooring following removal of service penetrations
• Final make-good ready for the space's next use

The completed works left the former café area cleared and made good while retaining the surrounding character and finishes of the existing library building.
