Mitcham Fruit & Vegetable Shop Defit

DEFIT PROJECTS

LOCATION: Shop 1, 26 Enterprise Way Mitcham

After many years in business and seven-day working weeks, the owners of this Mitcham fruit and vegetable shop decided it was time to close the doors. Melbourne Defit Company was engaged to complete the full retail defit and make-good of the tenancy.

This project involved a substantial strip-out, including:

  • Removal of the existing cool room
  • Removal of refrigerated display units and fridge wall panels
  • Removal of fixtures, fittings and retail displays
  • Removal of sections of the existing ceiling
  • Removal of floor tiles throughout the tenancy
  • Removal of screed used for floor ramping and around drainage points in the back-of-house area
  • Removal of window frosting and painted finishes
  • General make-good works to prepare the tenancy for handover
  • One of the more challenging aspects of the project was the removal of the window frosting, which had previously been painted over and required considerable work to remove cleanly. The existing flooring also proved challenging, particularly in the back-of-house areas where tiles, screed, ramps and drainage points all needed to be removed.

Where possible, we always prefer to see usable materials and equipment given a second life rather than sent to waste. The cool room, refrigeration units and fridge panels were successfully removed for reuse at a new location.

The result was a complete transformation from a fully fitted and operational fruit and vegetable shop to a cleared retail tenancy ready for its next chapter.
